Allied Committee Report

Thank you to our 2018 Allied Committee Co-Chairs, McKenzie Brady and Hunter Fleshood, for working with our Board of Directors to outline goals and  provide more value to the Allied membership.  Our membership numbers are based on a 50% Principal member to 50% Allied member ratio.  Currently, we have a wait list for Allied memberships and believe it important to roll out a new Allied Renewal Policy.

Don't hesitate to reach out to Hunter or McKenzie with any questions

MSS

For new construction, renovations and existing buildings, MSS provides Mechanical/HVAC, Building Automation & Controls, Fire Alarm/Life Safety and Security systems.  Our 400+ employees serve our clients from eight offices throughout the Carolinas.  We specialize in five asset classes:  Commercial Office, Healthcare, Industrial/Manufacturing, Critical Facilities and Hospitality.

Background: After earning a degree in Business Administration from UNC-CH, I worked for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) for 10 years as a Business Process and Technology consultant.  I transitioned to a career in Corporate Real Estate and for the last 15 years have managed facilities and design and construction for companies including Bank of America, Capital One and Cushman and Wakefield.
In 2016, I joined MSS to lead sales and solutions development for the Commercial Office sector.

Best advice for emerging professionals: Get involved in your industry through organizations like BOMA to learn and to develop a "360-degree" network.  Value and respect all relationships as people move around a lot in our industry.  You may be someone's customer today and tomorrow want them as your customer.  Someone that works for you today could be the hiring manager deciding whether to give you the job tomorrow.  When I was at BofA, I hired MSS to implement a nationwide smart-building program for the branch network.  Ten years later MSS hired me, something I would have never predicted back then.  Even though we went through tough negotiations and project challenges together, we were still able to form a trust-based, professional relationship when I was their client, something I am especially grateful for today.

Why did you join BOMABuilding Owners and Managers are MSS' target customer base and BOMA provides the platform for me to learn more about the needs and priorities of my customers.  BOMA's events, committees, volunteer outings and informal get-togethers provide tremendous opportunities to develop authentic relationships and to learn from industry peers and professionals.

What value does BOMA bring to you and your business: BOMA provides MSS direct access and exposure to our target customer base and ecosystem of business partners.  Our affiliation with BOMA, a globally-recognized and preeminent professional organization, strengthens our credibility.

Fun fact: I've lived in both San Francisco and Manhattan for several years on job assignments, but North Carolina will always be home.

Hobbies: Running, snowboarding, golf, going to concerts

Favorite thing about Charlotte: Big city offerings, small town community feel.  One of my favorite things to do in Charlotte is walk the rail trail with my wife and dog on a sunny day.  Great people watching, and plenty of dog-friendly places to stop for a beer.

Family: I have a beautiful wife (Jade), two beautiful daughters (Emmy and Libby) and big 'ol black dog (Ben)
