 BOMA GREATER CHARLOTTE
JULY 2022 NEWS
[Image]I will go ahead and clear the air, but to everyone's disappointment I did not find a mechanical bull to ride while in Nashville, TN for this year's BOMA International Conference! Surprisingly I never even saw one which was a huge let down. However, I did attend several educational sessions, spoke on behalf of BOMA Greater Charlotte and our efforts surrounding homelessness at a town hall event, explored the new technologies and services at the vendor expo, and took in the advice of this year's keynote speakers (Ginny Clark & Bill Taylor). So, I think it is safe to say I made out for the better and made what I hope to be several long-standing professional relationships along the way.

Nevertheless, the biggest differentiator this year was the sheer presence of our local chapter (+/- 20 individuals) and the involvement several now have beyond our local chapter. It was evident that Charlotte is starting to make some waves nationally and that gets me excited for our city and the future of our chapter!

However, for BOMA Greater Charlotte to continue to grow and gain the notoriety I feel it deserves I believe there to be two pivotal items which I challenge our members to consider as we round out 2022 and look toward the upcoming year.
  1. TOBY Awards -  With out a doubt this is the crowning jewel of the BOMA organization and an incredible recognition for any building and management team that earns it. Locally I know we have the product that would qualify to be recognized at the international level however we need your efforts to get it there! So please keep an eye out for upcoming timelines and requirements for next year's TOBY Awards that we will be sending out soon.
  1. Board Nominations - Without a doubt our chapter is only as good as our membership. And while we have had great leadership along the way we are always looking for the next individual to step up and make a difference in our organization. We are weeks away from starting our nomination process and would love this to be the year we see a flood of interest. So, whether you are a Principal member, Emerging Professional, nominated by others, or self-nominated, just consider getting involved! At a minimum, please join the current board for an upcoming virtual luncheon where we will discuss the board experience and answer any questions you might have. More details to come next week.
It is an exciting time for our chapter and hope you consider helping us take BOMA Greater Charlotte to the next level!

And almost forgot........make sure you check the website!

Each year, BOMA Greater Charlotte relies on its Allied Sponsors to help develop a strong, high quality education program throughout the year for its membership.  Lunch and Learns are a wonderful opportunity for members to meet and share their skills and expertise across a variety of subject matters.  This year, we are excited to share our new process for Lunch and Learns as we invite our Allied Sponsors to submit topics as we anticipate holding these sessions every other month to offset the months with our membership  lunches. Click here to see our list of topics and to indicate your interest in presenting.

Lunch and Learns offer a sociable, collaborative alternative to tradition classroom-based learning.  They offer a great way to foster a culture of learning and knowledge sharing in our organization.  BOMA Greater Charlotte is also able to provide continuing education credits to our Principal Members for attending these sessions.

And, finally, who doesn't love free lunch?
