BOMA Greater Charlotte helping you prepare...

Our first RNC Property Management Summit was a huge success! We heard from our presenters and panelists why Charlotte is such a great city for this national event. Attendees were provoked to begin preparations to support building owners, tenants and  the community.  "Charlotte's Got A Lot" and everyone is very excited to bring the spotlight back to our great town.

Next we will turn the spotlight on our members. Look for a follow up round table discussion with in early 2020. We will bring in experts to dive deeply into planning and best practices. In the meantime, now is the time to begin  thinking about budgets for necessary improvements and reaching out to our many BOMA Greater Charlotte allied members who are experts in their field and could assist with preparing our buildings.

Member Spotlight: Frankie Gunnell

ICCS partners with property managers and real estate professionals to offer customized cleaning solutions. As a CIMS-GB certified firm, we have an expertise in green cleaning and sustainability. Background: After earning a B.A in Communication from Virginia Tech I started searching for my first TV job that would catapult me to ESPN. That search landed me in Charleston SC, where I accepted a Photojournalist position. During my time at ABC News 4 I decided that I liked being behind the camera more than in front of it. After two great years, I accepted the same positon in Charlotte at WCNC News 36. From 2007-2011 I covered many interesting stories in the greater Charlotte region. In 2009 I won my first Emmy for spot news coverage. In 2011, my video career took quite the turn when I accepted a position at Langley Productions filming the "Cops" TV show. I traveled the country for 4 years, riding with police and documenting stories for the long running reality show. In 2015, I decided to settle down in Charlotte and looked for a career path with less travel and deadline stress. I was afforded an opportunity at ICCS where I'm currently a Project Manager.

Best Advice for Emerging Professionals: Never stop building relationships! Yesterday's assistant could be tomorrow's President. Look for common ground in every conversation. Earn trust instead of asking for it. Always look for ways to integrate past skillsets into your current position. Maybe you have experience in social media and your current company doesn't have a presence. I never would have imagined my knowledge of videography could lead to an expanded role with ICCS and my service to BOMA. Finally, be confident in anything that you do and people will take notice.

Why did you join BOMA: It's an honor to be chosen to represent your company and not something I take lightly. Being a part of BOMA gives me, not only direct access to a strong customer base, but an opportunity to learn from professionals in many different fields. BOMA facilitates opportunities for networking and relationship building through charitable events, social outings and educational services that would be impossible to generate on our own.

What Value does BOMA bring to you and your business: Being a part of BOMA gives our business credibility in an industry where trust and respect is earned and not gifted. BOMA has some of the best and brightest professionals in our industry. Being granted a seat at the table with them is truly special. I see how other companies strive to be a part of this organization and how long they will wait their turn.

Fun Fact: I have quite the Mt Rushmore of sports interviews since sitting down with champion's Michael Jordan, Jimmy Johnson, Coach K and Ric Flair!

Hobbies: I enjoy golf, basketball (more watching than playing these days) snowboarding, movies with my wife and taking photos/videos of my baby girl Isabella!

Favorite thing about Charlotte: Growing up in a small town that rarely changed, I cherish living in a city that's always developing and growing. I'm a big foodie, so the revolving door of new restaurants never gets old! My favorite spot is Dish in Plaza Midwood because their meatloaf is the only one that comes close to my Mom's recipe!

Family: I married my wife Jessica five years ago. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my 7 month old daughter Isabella in somewhere between 1 and 500 photos! We also adopted our 4 legged son/Chihuahua-Pug mix Dreyfus 3 years ago.
