 BOMA GREATER CHARLOTTE
MARCH 2022 NEWS
[Image]March is finally here, and boy it has sure brought an exciting few weeks to the City of Charlotte. It's the first time in two years seeing many new and old faces around town. A taste of warm weather with the first pops of spring color. Plus, an exciting sports weekend welcoming our newest team, Charlotte FC to town with a record setting crowd for the MLS. Oh, and for you music lovers hopefully you got a chance to see Eric Church as it was an electric show!
Now this all being in conjunction with many of us welcoming more tenants back into our buildings. Some of my recent conversations with tenants coming back made me realize I missed their interaction over the past two years and how much I don't like hiding behind e-mails and phone calls. So, I encourage each of you to go see an old tenant or make a new acquaintance and don't lose that personal touch that is all too critical to this industry!

Much to the same effect things at BOMA Greater Charlotte will begin to take off as well over the next few months. Starting with our Spring Fling event on Tuesday March 29th, 2022, which is FREE to Principal members so make sure to sign up and get another member to tag along with you while you are at it! Add to that an April Luncheon, Top Golf Event, and Educational Classes and it could be a fulfilling few months to grow your personal network or gain some additional industry knowledge.

Finally, I just wanted to point out the efforts of our current board and committee members as they have put in countless hours and already laid much of the groundwork for successful year, and your continued attendance/involvement is the cherry on top we are hoping for!

You might be able to guess by now...........but when in doubt, check the website!

BOMA Greater Charlotte President

[Image]In February, our Government Affairs Committee Chairperson, Brian Hill, along with Board Members Heather Hopkins and Elizabeth Fulk, and local member Dave Dabson attended the BOMA International Winter Business Meeting and National Issues Conference. Open to all BOMA members, this conference includes numerous opportunities to network, learn and participate in interactive discussions on emerging trends and best practices in commercial real estate.

It is also a chance to advocate on behalf of commercial real estate directly with elected officials. In meetings with staffers for Sen. Richard Burr and Sen. Thom Tillis, your local BOMA representatives were able to discuss legislative initiatives including Carbon Reduction, the Green Energy Loan Enhancement Act and Workforce Development. We are excited to bring back Leigh-Kathryn Bonner to BOMA Greater Charlotte for a new and interesting engagement.  Leigh-Kathryn spoke to our group in Charleston last September and for those who attended and those who could not, you will certainly enjoy a new presentation and see how much we can continue to learn from one of the smallest communities amongst us, that of the honey bee.
