Most valuable skill for a career in property management: Multi-tasking

Favorite aspect of a career in property management: Ever changing environment, no two days are ever the same.

Interesting story/challenge: 10 years ago, one of the assets I managed caught on fire in SouthPark.  I distinctly remember the call early one February morning from my engineer.  He quietly reported the Charlotte Fire Department had been dispatched to a '3 alarm fire' which meant 'through the roof.'  He sounded so composed regardless of the situation and his calmness fueled my calmness which helped me flip on that'professional problem solver' switch we all have.  Amidst a horrific situation, firefighters needing to speak with a decision maker, tenants needing to be contacted, neighbors looking for answers I remained calm and in control leading to as much of a favorable ending as possible (given the circumstances).  Long story short, we have control in so many situations and can determine the outcome by how well we handle ourselves in those situations!

Why did you join BOMA:  Desire to get engaged with an active association affiliated with CRE (commercial real estate) and help grow the foundation of young professionals interconnected by industry.

Fun fact: Nickname growing up was "Bird" from Wendy Bird in Peter this day my family calls me Bird.

Favorite thing about Charlotte: Twofold; growth & location
